Since August 19, the actor, journalist and master in anthropology from UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense), Ernesto Xavier has taken over the Instagram profile of actor and singer Thiago Fragoso, who has more than 2 million followers, to promote Lives with black people with success stories. With presentation by Ernesto Xavier, the #QuatroQuartas project will promote chats every Wednesday, at 8 pm, for four weeks, and mainly aims to show that the narrative of blacks is not limited to racism, but also in success stories.

“They often reduce black people to the issue of racism, which is urgent, but it does not summarize who we are. That is why it is so important to talk to successful black people about our experiences, jobs, achievements, specialties. Show that black people can be anything they want and thus help the next generations to see themselves as successful. Representativeness is a powerful way to combat structural racism,” says Ernesto.

The first chat was on the 19th with Thiago Fragoso, in which Ernesto spoke about black power, anthropology, the Senti na Pele project, which brings reports of those who have already suffered from racism.

”I think we all have to rethink the relationship between privileges and the maintenance of perverse structures in society. I do not believe in exclusionary freedom, only in inclusive. I want to take advantage of this moment when the height of the worldwide commotion due to the assassination of George Floyd is already behind me to return to this subject, which cannot die. Changing our attitudes on a daily basis requires constant observation and I hope that this #quatroquartas project can help along this path,” says Thiago.
