Synopsis: The novel, set in Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the 20th century, tells the story of two women, Isabel and Laura, who, despite being of very different social levels, have the same desire: to fight for the equality of women, to reconcile motherhood and profession. In an extremely conservative society, they will have to face many obstacles to achieve their goals. Other issues are also addressed, such as the emergence of football, the beginning of the favelas, the end of the tenements and the beginning of the Republic.
